Balfe Motorsport take season-best at Donington Park
23rd June 2019
The British GT championship made a first of two visits to Donington Park, and Rob Bell and teammate Shaun Balfe achieved further silverware with a 2nd place finish at the wheel of the McLaren 720S GT3. The result saw the pair on the podium for a second consecutive race weekend as they continue their push for the British GT GT3 championship.
After Shaun started from the second row of the grid, he was quickly up to the lead group, and was quickest on track during his stint. Quick work in the pitstop saw Rob back out on track and in a fierce three-way battle for the lead, which latest for the duration of his entire 30-minute sprint to the line.
The result is the best of the season so far for Rob and Shaun and is another milestone for the McLaren 720S GT3.
Rob Bell -
“Second place in a Championship like this is hard to achieve and we shouldn’t underestimate that. To actually be involved with the development of the 720S GT3 all the way through its evolution and to get to where we are now is a proud moment. It was another great drive by Shaun, who was fighting all the way to the pitstop. That kept us in the hunt for the lead, and we pushed hard for the win all the way to the chequered flag. The car felt great, and I am looking forward to the next round at Spa where I am confident we will be back in the mix challenging for a podium spot again.”
