Rob Gets to Grips with New Car
17th March 2007
Rob completed a three-day test at the renowned Estoril test track last week. The track was hired exclusively by Dunlop as part of their test program, going into what is sure to be the most competitive Le Mans Series yet. It was the first time Rob had driven with his new team, Virgo Motorsport, and their 07’ spec Ferrari 430 GT2.
“It’s great to finally get the 07’ season underway and get to grips with the 430. I am very impressed with the car, it seems to quick straight out of the box and Virgo have clearly done a great job over the winter”
The 430 GT2 ran for the first two of the three days and finished all of the tyre testing early. “It couldn’t have been better, the weather was perfect, the car felt good and we made progress with Dunlop. It was vital to get good quality testing done before the official test, to get my confidence in the car. I completed just over 800km over the two days and now feel at home in the car and with the team”
Team boss Chris Warne also was pleased with the test. “In all we tried 19 different sets of tyres – different compounds and constructions. The Dunlop guys were very impressed with Rob’s feedback and consistency. So were we. He’s level headed, meticulous and highly professional”
Next stop the LMS Official test 25/26 March, Paul Ricard Circuit.
